ABOUT US

The GW Jazz Orchestra is the premier student  jazz ensemble at the George Washington University. The GWJO consists of a traditional Big Band ensemble as well as a Small Combo group, providing a broad range of opportunities for musical expression.

Founded by a small group of dedicated student musicians in 2015, GWJO has helped Jazz music flourish across GW’s Foggy Bottom campus. The band is entirely led and operated by students, fostering a community of musicians who share a strong passion and dedication to Jazz music. Throughout its history, the GWJO has worked with a variety of different organizations, such as the American Museum of Peace, Honor Flights DC, the Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts & Culture, the Villanova and Mid-Atlantic jazz festival, and Blues Alley Jazz Club.

The GW Jazz Orchestra is available for hire for private events and performances throughout the academic year (late August through early May).
